v0.2.6

Privacy, Printing & Gallery Upgrades

August 8, 2026

Guest consent screens, print-only sessions, automatic cloud/server photo backup, a new 2-inch strip printer profile, and additional currency support — plus a redesigned event gallery and print composite fixes.

New

  • Consent page — Guests now see a consent screen before their session begins. Configure required disclosures from the Admin panel to keep your studio compliant with data privacy regulations.
  • Print-only mode for guests — A new session option sends guests directly to printing, skipping tone and frame selection entirely. Ideal for high-throughput events where the operator controls all settings upfront.
  • Operator cloud & server photo backup — Operators can now configure a cloud storage destination or private server to receive session photos automatically after each shoot, alongside the local copy on the booth machine.
  • STRIP profile for 2-inch printers — New 2×6 strip layout profile for DNP and HiTi printers. Handles correct bleed and cut margins for 2-inch strip output — create the profile once and assign it to any event.
  • Additional currency support — New currencies are available in payment settings. The selected currency flows through to the guest invoice, operator reports, and the analytics dashboard automatically.

Improved

  • Event gallery — Guests now land on a per-session picker when they scan the event QR code, rather than seeing every photo from the event at once. Each card shows a preview photo so guests can identify their own group quickly. The event QR is generated automatically when the event is created — no extra step required.

Fixed

  • Printing — Resolved an issue where the selected frame overlay was not applied to the print composite. The gallery video (animated output) now also correctly reflects the chosen frame, tone, and background color.

Updated

  • Terms of Service & Privacy Policy — Updated to reflect new data handling practices introduced in this release — covering guest consent, session data collection, and operator cloud backup destinations.
v0.2.5

Gallery QR Workflows, Sample Filters & Reliability Overhaul

August 1, 2026

Gallery QR workflows, template library improvements, profile management fixes, and a significant reliability overhaul for post-login data loading.

New

  • Pre-session Event Gallery QR — Admins can generate an Event Gallery QR code for any event before a single photo is taken. Open the Gallery QR modal and click Generate QR — the link is created instantly, persisted for 90 days, and can be shared with clients right away so they're ready to scan the moment the booth starts shooting.
  • Gallery QR button per event in Events Library — Every event card now has a QR Gallery action button, active only when the account has an active Gallery add-on. It opens a modal showing both the pre-session event QR and all individual session QR codes, with copy-link and Download QR options.
  • Download QR as PNG — Both event-level and session-level QR codes can now be downloaded as a high-resolution 512×512 PNG directly from the Gallery QR modal — no screenshotting required.
  • Format filter chips in Samples — Templates — The Samples panel now has filter chips (All · 4×6 · 2×6 · 6×4 · 6×2) so operators can quickly find templates matching their current paper format without scrolling through unrelated layouts.
  • Format filter chips in Samples — Frames — The same filter chips are available for frames in the Samples panel. Each card's preview image automatically switches to the selected format's variant, so you always see an accurate representation of the frame before applying it.

Improved

  • Events load instantly after login — no Ctrl+R required — The events list now reads from the local store immediately, before the Supabase sync network call. Previously the app waited for the full cloud round-trip before showing any data, so a slow or unsettled auth token caused an empty events list until you manually refreshed. Events now appear as soon as the screen loads.
  • Auto-refresh on window focus and periodic license sync — The app now silently refreshes your license status when the window regains focus (throttled to once every 30 seconds) and on a 5-minute interval while running. Events are also re-read on focus so multi-device or web-app changes appear without restarting.
  • Template limit enforced in Samples section — Applying or adding a sample template now respects your account's template limit, with a toast notification when the limit is reached — matching the behavior already in place for the main templates library.
  • Profile photo picker reliability — The "Update photo" button in Account → Profile is more reliable and now shows a loading state on the button while the upload is in progress.
  • Manual reload button for Events Library — A refresh icon in the Events Library header lets you manually re-read events from the local store without a full page reload — useful when events were created from another device and the focus-based sync hasn't fired yet.
  • Faster settings sync on first login — Eliminated a redundant network round-trip when reading your settings, and removed a race condition where data could fail to load silently on first login.
  • More reliable avatar uploads — Profile photo uploads are now packaged in a way that's fully compatible with the desktop app's upload pipeline, fixing a rare "no image data received" error some operators saw.

Fixed

  • Template limit not enforced when limit was zero — A logic bug meant an entitlement of exactly 0 templates was treated as unlimited instead of blocked. Template limits are now enforced correctly at every tier.
  • Free plan users limited to 1 template instead of 3 — Free-tier accounts were capped at 1 template due to a hardcoded default; corrected to the intended 3-template free plan limit.
  • Saving profile wiped existing avatar URL — Saving your profile while the photo field was empty (e.g. after a slow page load) could accidentally erase your previously uploaded avatar. Your avatar is now preserved unless you actually upload a new one.
  • Uploaded avatar not refreshing in browser due to caching — After uploading a new photo, the old one sometimes kept showing because the browser served a cached copy. New uploads now always display immediately.
  • Cloud sync could clobber local data with empty values — A merge-strategy bug meant syncing with the cloud could occasionally overwrite locally-saved settings, appearance, and template data with blank values. Local data now always takes priority for anything not already present in the cloud.
  • Events, templates, frames, and palettes occasionally failing to load — A storage bug could cause these lists to come back in the wrong data shape when empty, silently breaking the app's ability to merge and display them. Fixed so empty lists always load correctly.
v0.2.4

Payment Providers, Trial Onboarding & Template Overhaul

July 28, 2026

New

  • Free trial onboarding modal — Logged-in users who haven't yet activated their free trial see a one-time pop-up explaining what the 14-day trial includes. Skipped for users with an active subscription, a redeemed trial, or an expired trial.
  • Multi-payment provider support — Operators can now configure one of four payment providers in Business settings: PayMongo (Philippines), Stripe (global), Xendit (Indonesia & Philippines), or PayPal (200+ countries). Only one provider can be active at a time — switching is instant.
  • Stripe — Accepts card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Link, SEPA Direct Debit, and iDEAL.
  • Xendit — Accepts card, OVO, DANA, GoPay, LinkAja, ShopeePay, QRIS, and five virtual account banks (BCA, BNI, BRI, Mandiri) plus Alfamart and Indomaret convenience stores.
  • PayPal — Accepts PayPal wallet, Pay Later (BNPL), Venmo, and card.
  • Dual-strip print mode — Templates now carry a Print Mode field: Single (one print per sheet) or 2-Strip (two strips side-by-side on one sheet, cut down the middle). Selectable from the template editor for 4×6 and 6×4 layouts, with a badge on each template card.
  • 6×2 and 6×4 landscape layouts — Full support for landscape orientations: 6×2 landscape strip and 6×4 landscape print, alongside the existing 2×6 portrait strip and 4×6 portrait print.
  • Refreshed default template library — 18 curated templates across six formats (2×6, 6×2, 4×6, 6×4, 4×6 Dual Strip, 6×4 Dual Strip), three per format.
  • Redesigned default frames — Six production-ready overlays pre-rendered at all four layout sizes: Studio White, Noir & Gold, Rose Gold, Floral Corner, Film Classic, and Confetti.
  • Automatic update announcements — Photuna checks for updates on launch and every four hours. A dismissible banner with a direct "Update now" link appears when a new version is available.
  • Sample Layouts gallery — Browse all built-in templates and frames from a new Samples tab before committing to them for an event.
  • DNP & HiTi auto-cut detection — Settings → Printing scans the Windows print queue for connected DNP/HiTi printers and reports whether 2×6 strip cut is configured, with brand-specific setup instructions.

Improved

  • Tap to Start button sizing — Fixed a rendering bug where the button appeared far smaller than intended on kiosk displays; now uses viewport-relative clamp() sizing.
  • Start Button editor — Label, font, background colour, hover colour, and text colour are now grouped in a single "Start Button" card inside Branding settings.
  • Template card badges — Every card now shows Single, 2-Strip, or Strip so operators can identify print mode at a glance.
  • Frame previews for all layouts — Overlays render correctly at all four layout sizes regardless of which layout is active.
  • Print mode selector in template editor — Switching a 4×6 or 6×4 template to 2-Strip shows a contextual note describing the cut-line and slot requirements.
  • Blue colour theme — The admin dashboard and auth screens now use a clean blue accent palette throughout, replacing the previous teal theme.
  • Default badges — Template and frame cards show a "Default" badge for built-in items.
  • Responsive photobooth screens — All kiosk-facing screens scale correctly across a wider range of display sizes using fluid clamp() values.
  • Cleaner print preview — Removed the redundant "Your photo is ready!" label so the layout no longer crowds the progress animation.
  • 4×6 and 2×6 focus — Removed the 4×4 square layout; Photuna now focuses on the two formats real dye-sublimation printers support.

Fixed

  • Trial modal false positives — The onboarding prompt was incorrectly appearing for accounts with active subscriptions, redeemed trials, and trial-unavailable status. Root cause was a race condition where the license object was evaluated before it had fully loaded; all edge cases are now correctly gated.
v0.2.3

Auth Redesign

May 17, 2026

Improved

  • Redesigned login and registration screen — Cleaner layout with better visual hierarchy, improved form spacing, and a more polished first-impression experience for new operators.
v0.2.2

Bug Fixes

May 17, 2026

Fixed

  • Gallery add-on configuration was not being read correctly in certain event setups, causing the QR code to fail to generate even when the add-on was active.
  • Template limit enforcement was allowing more templates than the active plan permits in edge cases involving rapid saves.
v0.2.1

Gallery Add-on & Entitlement Enforcement

May 17, 2026

New

  • Gallery add-on gating — The online gallery (QR code download link) is now a separate purchasable add-on, independent of the base plan. The print preview screen only generates a QR code when the add-on is active.
  • Hard entitlement limits — Template count, event count, and gallery access are enforced per plan at the application level. Exceeding your plan limits shows a clear in-app prompt rather than failing silently.

Improved

  • Subscription summary screen now reflects gallery add-on status alongside the base plan.
  • Photobooth flow skips gallery upload entirely when the add-on is inactive, eliminating unnecessary network calls during sessions.
v0.2.0

Licensing & Subscription System

May 17, 2026

New

  • Plan-based licensing — Photuna now supports Free, Trial, Pro, and Business subscription tiers. Each plan controls which features are accessible inside the app.
  • Trial watermark — Sessions running on a trial license display a small watermark in the printed output, reminding operators to upgrade for clean prints.
  • License context — The app reads and caches the active license on startup so plan-gated features respond instantly without extra network round-trips.
  • Licensing API — Internal licensing server for validating keys, upgrading accounts, and applying admin plan changes.

Improved

  • Entitlement constants aligned across the Electron main process, the React renderer, and the licensing API to prevent plan-check inconsistencies at runtime.
